Streamside Rearing Facility (2005-2007), Upper Black River, MI

Objectives of my dissertation research are listed as follows:

  1. (i) Investigation of the effects of different lake sturgeon gamete-take and juvenile collection strategies on the genetic diversity of offspring stocked.

  2. (ii) Evaluating the effects of collection methods, rearing environment, and age at release on lake sturgeon stocking efficiency.

  3. (iii) Effects of spawning time on variability in early life history traits: Implications for lake sturgeon recruitment and restoration.

  4. (iv) Quantify overwinter mortality of juvenile lake sturgeon reared in both natal and non-natal sources.

  5. (v) Determining levels of genetic diversity and relatedness within and among different reproductive time scales in adult lake sturgeon.

  6. (vi) Determining the effects of rearing environment on levels of domestication in juvenile lake sturgeon.
