Bio

Roger J. Calantone is a University Distinguished Professor and Eli Broad University Professor of Business in The Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University. He joined MSU in 1991.

Calantone earned his PhD from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Prior to Broad, he held faculty positions at the University of Florida, University of Kentucky, University of Central Florida, Rutgers University, McGill University, and University of Massachusetts. He is one of two to receive the academic alumni award from UMASS.

In 2009, Calantone was honored as a Leading Researcher by the International Association for the Management of Technology. He has authored over 400 peer-reviewed journal and proceedings articles, five books, and several book chapters. His publications and research are principally in product design and development processes; commercialization and distribution of new products; and brand and organization process metrics. 

Calantone has received numerous research and publication awards. In 2012, an article in JPIM recognized him as the second-most productive innovation research scholar worldwide for the last 20 years. His research has been funded by the NSF, Broad Foundation, Lowe Foundation, MRC, MSI, CAPS, KPMG, Dow, Mott foundation, CLODE, MIIE, and private and public firms. He recently concluded work on an NSF-funded research team to study science-based multi-team systems at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB).
