C. Debra Furr-Holden is a Charles Stewart Mott Endowed Professor of Public Health at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree and doctorate in epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Dr. Furr-Holden is an expert in understanding how the built and social environment shapes and influences health and health behavior. This includes areas such as exposure to violence, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. She has authored or co-authored more than 20 publications in the last two years on the role of neighborhood environment in childhood, adolescent, and young adult psychopathology.
