Edmund Outslay is the Deloitte & Touche/Michael Licata Endowed Professor of Taxation at the Eli Broad College of Business. His research expertise is in the areas of income tax accounting, international tax planning, and mergers and acquisitions.

Outslay received his bachelor’s degree from Furman University, and his master’s and PhD from the University of Michigan. He is a CPA in the state of Michigan. Since 1981, he has taught undergraduate and graduate accounting courses, while serving on or chairing 20 dissertation committees. His research has appeared in top academic publications, including National Tax Journal, Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, and the Journal of the American Taxation Association.

Outslay has authored or co-authored nine books, as well as seven professional manuals. Outslay has served as keynote speaker, panelist, and presenter at global industry conferences and has consulted for Wells Fargo, the Internal Revenue Service, and the U.S. General Accounting Office. He is actively involved in MSU and community affairs as a faculty member and resident. Within MSU, he has served on the MSU Athletic Council, the University Graduate Council, and the University Executive Committee on Academic Governance. A committed volunteer in his community, he has received the Crystal Award from the city of East Lansing and the AFLAC National Assistant Coach of the Year in recognition of his civic involvement.
