Bio

Dr. Vallabh Sambamurthy is Eli Broad University Professor and associate dean for Outreach and Engagement at the Eli Broad College of Business. He is a leading global expert on how mobility, analytics, cloud, social media, and the Internet of Things technologies catalyze transformations in industry boundaries and firms’ competitive strategies. Sambamurthy earned his PhD from the University of Minnesota and his MBA from Indian Institute of Management.

Sambamurthy has published 60 articles in top journals, such as Management Science and Information Systems Research. He is ranked among the top five information systems scholars over the past five years and has generated research funding of $3 million from a variety of sources, including the National Science Foundation and the Financial Executives Research Foundation.  Sambamurthy’s editorial engagements include six years as the editor-in-chief of Information Systems Research.

He has co-authored four books on digital business strategy and transformations, and has actively worked with numerous corporations through executive education and consulting. He was selected as Distinguished Fellow of the Information Systems Society (2011), Fellow of the Association of Information Systems (2009), and the Distinguished Alumnus of the National Institute of Technology (2009). He received the John D. and Dortha J. Withrow Endowed Teacher Scholar Award and the William Beal Distinguished Faculty Award, one of the highest honors accorded by MSU.
