Message from the Presidential Search Committee Co-Chairs

June 27, 2018

Dear Friends of Michigan State University,

The search for our 21st president is a historic time for Michigan State University, and we fully understand the eagerness expressed by our students, faculty, staff and alumni as the search begins and we prepare for the next chapter in our history. We all share the same high hopes for this institution, and finding the right leader to move us forward is paramount to our success.

As members of the Board of Trustees, we are proud to be tasked with leading the search for our next president. Due to an understandably high level of interest in the process, this website has been created to keep our Spartan family informed of the latest developments. The content will be updated frequently, so please check back often for the latest news.

Transparency is very important and will be a guiding principle as we begin a series of listening sessions. It is our sincere intent and a priority of the Board to engage the entire university community as we identify the qualities and characteristics desired of the next president.

A search committee will be formed in August, and close attention will be paid to ensure it is inclusive, diverse and made up of individuals from across our campus community, including students, faculty, staff, deans, trustees and alumni. Stakeholder listening sessions will begin in July and continue into October.

It is our goal to have a new president selected by June 2019 and in place prior to the 2019-20 academic year, which begins in July 2019.

This is a pivotal time for Michigan State University and we look forward to taking this journey together. Spartans Will!

Your Fellow Spartans,
