Provost search update (Dec. 12, 2019)

Dear Michigan State University Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce that we are launching the search for our Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. We have engaged Parker Executive Search to assist us in our recruiting efforts. The work of the search started with Parker’s extensive engagement with members of the MSU community, as well as an open conversation at University Council in November to initiate the beneficial process of inviting community input as the search committee commences its work of consideration of applicants.

As a valued member of our university community, we would like your help in identifying candidates for this position.

A copy of the position description can be found here.

Currently, we encourage you to take part in the process by suggesting names of individuals who might be appropriate for the opportunity. Please submit names as soon as possible to:

Laurie Wilder, President
Porsha Williams, Vice President -
Jacob Anderson, Principal -
Parker Executive Search
5 Concourse Parkway, Suite 2900
Atlanta, GA 30328

We plan to conduct on-campus interviews in March 2020. During this open phase of the search, members of the MSU community will have significant opportunities to directly engage with each of the final candidates. These campus visits will offer the best opportunity for you to interact with finalists.

In the interim, we invite you to share feedback using the following survey link: Additionally, we are planning three public conversations in early spring – one for faculty, one for staff, and one for students. We invite and welcome feedback through these channels that will prove valuable for the committee as we prepare to review candidates.

Best regards,

Ron Hendrick and Beronda Montgomery
