Weekly Coronavirus Communications Update - May 21

Colleagues:

While this week is a lighter update, there were a few important communications we think are important for you and your teams to be aware of. And, as a reminder, MSU Health Care is offering doses of the Pfizer vaccine to all students and faculty through the MSU Pharmacy. Their hours are Tuesday to Thursday 12 to 4 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Click here to schedule your appointment.

Enjoy the weekend and the nice summer weather! Here’s your weekly communications recap.

Important Updates:

  • Monday, President Stanley announced that planning is underway for staff and faculty to gradually and safely return back to their business locations.
  • Wednesday, President Stanley shared an update on its financial situation for the upcoming fiscal year, including its plan to bring faculty and executive managers back their full salary starting July 1st. An earlier version of the letter that was distributed had an error in that it stated furlough agreements with many of MSU’s unions ended June 30. That error has been updated in the web version to correctly state that those agreements are in place through July 31.
  • Thursday, the state announced that in June all outdoor gathering restrictions will be lifted and on July 1, the state’s indoor and outdoor gathering restrictions and mask orders will all be rescinded. Read more here
  • Also Thursday, MSU Athletics shared that it plans to have a full and robust Spartan Stadium and deliver as traditional a Spartan football experience as we possibly can after a year missing those traditions. Watch their announcement video

As always, please continue to check our Together We Will website for the latest information on our response to the pandemic, and MISpartan Impact for stories on partnerships and collaborations across the state. Attached is an updated 800 script for you and your units to use when responding to callers or those who have questions about MSU’s response to COVID-19.

Best,

Emily
