Weekly Coronavirus Communications Update - Nov. 20


It was welcome news for many to see CDC expand COVID-19 vaccine booster eligibility this week to all adults. Boosters are available in several places throughout mid-Michigan and across the state. To find a provider near you, visit our website: msu.edu/together-we-will/covid19-vaccine/.

Important updates

  • Thursday, the Early Detection Program shared their upcoming holiday hours. During the week of Thanksgiving, samples will be picked up Sunday, Nov. 21 through Wednesday, Nov. 24. Samples submitted by 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, will have results on Friday, Nov. 26. The Early Detection Program is also encouraging those travelling or returning home for Thanksgiving to plan ahead in order to get test results back in time.
  • Friday, the CDC expanded COVID-19 booster eligibility for all adults. University Communications shared this exciting news through our social media channels.
  • Also Friday, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued guidance on the use of face masks to protect against COVID-19 infection. The guidance recommends all people in indoor settings wear face masks among other recommended measures as cases increase across Michigan. As a reminder, the university’s indoor mask requirement is still in effect and will continue into the spring semester.
