Why Rush?

Joining Alpha Chi Sigma is a great way to become more involved in the field, make professional connections, make a difference in the community, and to meet fellow Spartans passionate about chemistry.

We regularly host both professional and social events. Past professional activities have included a car wash in order to raise funds for a local elementary school's science department, taking elementary students to the Abrams Planetarium on MSU's campus, a campus 5K to donate proceeds to the SEED Program which sponsors research opportunities that allow economically disadvantaged high school students to work alongside scientist-mentors, and hosting various evening lectures by distinguished scientists. Some of the annual events our chapter participates in include National Chemistry Day activities at Impressions 5 Science Museum in Lansing and the mentoring of Science Olympiad teams in the area.

Past social events have included hayrides, bonfires, potlucks, bowling nights, movie nights, cider mill trips, formals (think prom!), tailgates, dinners and much more!

I'm In! How Do I Pledge?

All science majors are welcome! Attend one of our social rush session and an interview session in the fall to learn more. To begin the pledging process there are pledge events at the beginning of each semester. Check the calendar to find upcoming rush events. They typically fall in the first couple weeks of each semester. Feel free to contact our rush chairs Ashley ( and Katarzyna ( if you have any questions.
