CSA has met with the director of the Office of International Student Services, Assistant Director of the Center for Latin America and Caribbean Studies, as well as representatives from the International Studies and Programs office to discuss the administrations' approach to supporting Haitian students affected by the disaster, as well as means of raising awareness for the disaster.  Out of these discussions we have been able to get the following commitments

  • For the next two weeks we have a display table in the International Center to raise awareness for the earthquake
  • We will have an opportunity to speak for 10 minutes at the international coffee hour on Friday.
  • Both the OISS and CLAACS have committed to helping us with the funding for any fundraising event that we plan.
  • CLAACS will host a special website that will allow us to post information about ways in which students can give to the relief effort.

We have also been in contact with the Red Cross in mid-michigan and they have highlighted ways in which we can contribute to the aid effort. They are also willing to speak with us at our next meeting. For updated information please refer to CNN to find out where funds can be donated to help our brothers and sisters in Haiti!
