December, 2003:  Contracted by MSU to write user guides, online help and training materials for the Forms Tracking Utility (FTU) project while employed as a Consultant with HTC Global Services. October, 2004:  Hired by MSU for a two-year, off-dated position as an Information Technologist I, Level 12 to work on user documentation projects for Administrative Information Services. 2004-2006:  Training certifications obtained through MSU and Libraries, Computing & Technology Training Programs in Web Writing, Visio Professional, Quality Service, and Camtasia software. October, 2005:  Successfully completed the 1-year probationary period of employment at MSU with an exemplary attendance record. December, 2005:  AIS Management made the decision to make Scott a long-term, regular employee by changing from the off-dated postion status. February, 2006:  MSU removed the end date from the position. June 2006:  Successfully completed the AIS Help & Support Center Staff Rotation program. August, 2006:  Selected by The Kuali Foundation to lead the Kuali Documentation Team, a geographically-dispersed team of technical communicators, content publishers and information developers from multiple partner institutions around the country who collaborate to produce user guides, training materials, and online help for Kuali Financial Systems (KFS) software. September, 2006:  Single-handedly raised over $500.00 for the Muscular Distrophy Association (MDA) as the lone representative for the AIS Department for Michigan State University. Scott's Documentation Team scored higher in project-wide, phase-end stakeholder surveys than any other Kuali team for overall quality and was favorably evaluated by an international expert. About The Author

Scott Cooley is the author of pages found in this Solaris SaMBa web server space. Working as an Information Technologist for Libraries, Computing & Technology at Michigan State University in Administrative Information Services, Scott is an MSU staff employee (AIS Technical Writer) who works with web pages as part of his job. Scott is responsible for the creation and maintenance of this AFS-hosted folder area. It will be used for work-related network storage; web publishing; and testing of sgml, .html, xml, javascript and .css files; back-up of important data files such as online help and user manuals associated with the technical publications and instructional design job roles involved with software documentation and training for which he is responsible; and to remotely store files for web access and offsite work that may include access to presentation materials for client instruction purposes and other official University business.

Scott Cooley is an author of over 100 different books, manuals, guides, reports, online help systems, news articles, newsletters and web pages.Scott holds an A.B. degree in English from Albion College and the first Team Management Certification offered by the Society of Technical Communication ('07), with a specialization in "Successfully Managing Geographically Dispersed Teams and Managing Culturally Diverse Teams". He has more than 15 years of experience writing, editing, teaching and training in technical subjects, while specializing in software documentation, and currently works as an information technology consultant. He has held such positions as technical writer, technical editor, master trainer, principal documentation analyst, team leader, document controller, standards manager, and technical publications manager for many large-scale, high-profile software development projects in both the public and private sectors for various governmental agencies and businesses in Michigan. Since August 2006, Scott has led the Kuali Documentation Teams for both the Kuali Research Administration and Kuali Financial Systems projects, working as a project staff resource for the Kuali Foundation while employed by Michigan State University.
