Hyena Research: Reproductive Success.

With Dr K.T. Scribner, we are using microsatellite markers to test hypotheses about patterns of reproductive success and kinship among and within hyena populations. In his PhD research, Mr R.C. Van Horn is integrating genetic, demographic, and behavioral data from Talek hyenas, and he is genotyping hyenas sampled from 7 other clans within the MMNR. By knowning the kinship of individuals, we may study kin recognition in hyenas.
