Visit from Delegation of the Maktabah Jafariyah Knowledge and Research Academy

On June 5, the Institute of International Health hosted a luncheon roundtable discussion and presentation for a delegation from the Maktabah Jafariyah Knowledge and Research Academy, North Gujarat, India. The Academy is a private, community based initiative to be a catalyst of change to enhance the education level of the region. There are three pillars to the mission of Maktabah Jafariyah: education, community development, and economic development. The delegation visited IIH to explore partnering with Michigan State University to focus on an integrated and holistic approach to problem solve with Maktabah Jafariah. Three MSU faculty, Dr. Ed Rosick, Family and Community Medicine (COM), Dr. Jim Trosko, Pediatrics and Human Development (CHM), and Greg Gulick, College of Human Medicine, gave brief presentations in the areas of nutrition, telemedicine, and community health.

Staging a New Future in OneHealth
Join us June 20, 2012 for "Staging a New Future in OneHealth", with a presentation and discussion with Dr. Walter Ammann, President of the Global Risk Forum (GRF Davos) and Chairman of the International Disaster and Risk Conference (IDRC Davos) in Switzerland. Discuss and explore the role of Michigan State University in solving the challenges of the OneHealth initiative, which acknowledges the innterconnections of human, animal, and environmental health in close relation with food safety and security. Only an integrated approach will ensure sustainable health management for our future!
