How does behavior evolve? My research aims to answer this question using lizards in the genus Anolis, or anoles. One area Iíve focused on is the influence of habitat use on behavioral evolution Ė Caribbean anoles are particularly useful for this research because of their independent evolution of the same microhabitat specialists on different islands. Another area Iím interested in is the relationship between structure (morphology) and function (behavior), and how this relationship evolves. In my postdoctoral research with Dr. Juli Wade, I am examining reproductive behavior in Anolis lizards and the neural, muscular, and endocrine structures that control this behavior.
