Math201: Mathematics for Elementary Teachers

This is a mathematics course for prospective elementary teachers, the first of a two-course sequence required for elementary certification. Most students take this class before they enter the College of Education, in their first or second year at Michigan State. This class focuses primarily on number: whole numbers, operations, algorithms, fractions, decimals, percents, early algebra, and number theory.

Assignments
Students have daily homework assignments, taken from the Parker and Baldridge textbook. Many of the problems come from the Singapore text series, used extensively in the Parker and Baldridge text. There are three quizzes and a final exam in this class.
