Crescent banner stone dug-up in Okemos, Michigan

In March of the year 2000 a bannerstone was found near the intersection of I-96 and Jolly Road just South of Okemos Michigan. The bannerstone was unearthed as a trench was being dug to connect a home to the central water supply. Subsequent examination of the area produced no more relics or evidence of past habitation. The bannerstone is a crescent shape almost 4 inches across and is made from banded slate. Although there is still some contriversy over the prupose of banner stones, evidence suggests they were mounted on the shaft of a spear-thrower.
