About Me

I am a conservation biologist, restoration ecologist, and ornithologist currently working on a PhD at Michigan State University in the lab of Dr. Catherine Lindell. My research focuses on the recovery of bird habitat and avian ecosystem services in tropical forest restorations. Past research projects have taken me to Texas, Michigan, Kansas, and Vietnam. My Master's thesis focused on herbivory and seedling ecology of a threatened prairie plant, Mead's Milkweed.

What's that background photo?

I took this photo of forest restoration plots in the MamonĂ Valley of Panama. The road pictured winds through former pasture land degraded by overgrazing. Today, the property is being managed as a sustainable timber plantation, contributing to the local economy while protecting soils and creating wildlife habitat.
