About Me

I am a conservation biologist, restoration ecologist, and environmental scientist. I hold a triple-major PhD from Michigan State University in Integrative Biology; Environmental Science and Policy; and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior. My doctoral research focused on the recovery of bird habitat and avian ecosystem services in tropical forest restorations. I have also conducted research on rare plants, small mammals, and amphibians.

What's that background photo?

I took this photo of forest restoration plots in the MamonĂ Valley of Panama. The road pictured winds through former pasture land degraded by overgrazing. Today, the property is being managed as a sustainable timber plantation, contributing to the local economy while protecting soils and creating wildlife habitat.
