Assistant Head of School
|TO STOP PLAGIARISM!||TO STOP PLAGIARISM!||TO STOP PLAGIARISM!|
In this webquest, 9-12th grade Research Methods students teach their peers about plagiarism, while at the same time solidfying their own knowledge of what plagiarism is and how to avoid it.
In groups, students use the Internet and textbooks to review the basics of plagiarism, interview teachers and administrators about plagiarism, and create WebQuests or stand-alone, interactive PowerPoints that teach their peers about plagiarism.
These learning tools will be used by the school in two ways: as a required exercise for students who have been caught committing plagiarism; and as a useful tool for those students who have learned basic information literacy skills but need a refresher.
By teaching their peers how to recognize and avoid plagiarism, the students completing this webquest reach a more secure level of understanding themselves. The products students create through this webquest are truly authentic in that they meet a real-world need and will be put to use by the school.
