The MSMichigan State University, Apple and the Gilbert Family Foundation celebrated the graduation of the Apple Developer Academy’s fourth cohort of learners, equipping 125 Detroiters with app development and business skills to set them up for careers in the evolving app economy and other technology-focused roles.
In the 2024-25 academic year, Spartan faculty earned some of the nation’s most prestigious academic honors, reflecting their individual excellence and the university’s commitment to discovery, creativity and service to communities. These accolades celebrate academic excellence and support the work and lives of scientists, researchers and educators, encouraging them to continue fueling creative innovation and pursuing solutions to big questions that will shape our future.
June’s research at MSU spotlighted breakthroughs in construction communication, food safety, artificial intelligence and climate science. Spartan researchers also led community-focused projects on water, geology and transgender resilience, showcasing the university’s broad impact across science and society.

A pediatrician helped expose Flint's water crisis. Now she's fighting poverty one baby at a time.: Rx kids, a program she created to give cash to pregnant moms, is an American first. Now, every expectant mother in Flint, regardless of income, can get $1,500 during her pregnancy. Once the baby is born, it's $500 a month for up to a year — no strings attached.

MSU used an inclusive and comprehensive strategic planning process to create a shared vision for the future and a common set of principles and values to guide our work.
To recognize the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion as a foundation for university, MSU is using a comprehensive DEI planning process focusing on those values and working in collaboration with the overall strategic planning process.
The RVSM Strategic Plan stems from work by leading researchers and experts in the field to develop a plan for survivor services, prevention efforts, and climate and culture change initiatives.
