Carl Davidson is a professor of Economics, and was named a University Distinguished Professor in 2019. He has also served as Interim Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the College of Social Science since 2019, and he received MSU’s William J. Beal Outstanding Faculty Award in 2004.
His research falls into two general areas: the influence of labor market structure on issues related to international trade, and the development of models of oligopolistic behavior designed to help us better understand how firms with significant market power interact.
He has a B.A. in Economics from Emory University, a M.S. and a Ph.D, both in Economics, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He served as co-editor to World Economy (Americas Edition) from 2005 to 2009 and associate editor, to the European Economic Review from 2011 to 2013. Carl is an External Research Fellow for the Center on Globalization and Economic Policy at the University of Nottingham.
His work has appeared in outlets such as the Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, Economic Journal, Rand Journal of Economics, International Economic Review, and the Journal of International Economics.
