Bio

Naveen Khanna is A.J. Pasant Chair in Finance and chairperson of the Department of Finance in the Eli Broad College of Business. He received his PhD from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business and came to MSU in 1994 after serving as a faculty member at the University of Michigan. 

In 2000, Khanna was recognized by Businessweek as ͞favorite faculty member,͟ and his course, Corporate Financial Strategies, was recognized as the ͞favorite course͟ in the MBA. In 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010. He also was honored as an ͞Outstanding Professor͟ by Broad MBA students and in 2016 was recognized by Poets & Quants as the Favorite MBA Professor. He has been a visiting professor at Northwestern in 1997 and at Duke University in 2007 and 2008.

Khanna is actively publishing in top journals, including the Journal of Economic Theory, Rand Journal of Economics, Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, and Journal of Financial Economics, and is frequently invited to present his research at top universities around the country. His research expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, insider trading, information cascades, incentive contracts, product market competition, boards of directors, short selling, feedback effect of stock prices, posturing by VCs, and limits to reputation.
