Bio

Dr. Michelle Moyd is an associate professor in the Department of History. She is a historian of eastern Africa, focused on the region’s histories of soldiering and warfare. She has authored two books, the first on the social and cultural history of African soldiers in the region now known as Tanzania, and the second, still in progress, which will examine the spectrum of African experiences, particularly those of soldiers and workers, in World War I.
