Bio

Ioannis 'John' Papapolymerou, chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, conducts research focused on the development of microwave/mm-wave/submm-wave circuits, antennas, and modules for wireless communication, radar and sensing systems.

A native of Greece, Papapolymerou earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, before coming to the United States to pursue his master’s and PhD in electrical engineering at the University of Michigan.

Prior to arriving at MSU in 2015, he served as the Ken Byers Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and associate director of the Georgia Electronic Design Center (GEDC) at Georgia Tech. He has published more than 350 refereed journal and conference publications and holds five US patents.
