Nov. 10: Keep your family safe; Thanksgiving departure spit testing starts Monday

Dear Spartans,

As the semester begins to wrap and the days grow shorter, I wanted to send a quick reminder to those Spartans who plan to return home for Thanksgiving. Spartans are encouraged to observe a 14-day period of enhanced physical distancing here in East Lansing before their departure; this is a crucial step in preparing Spartans for safe and healthy holiday gatherings.

Starting next Monday, MSU is offering free, saliva-based departure screening and testing for on- and off-campus students. It is strongly encouraged that students who are traveling sign up here at the program registration link. Space is filling up on particular dates, so sign up as soon as possible. Students are also encouraged to download the MI COVID Alert app by clicking here, which is now available statewide.

If you would like to seek clinical diagnostic testing, contact the MSU COVID-19 Triage Line at 855-958-2678. Remember, if you are feeling ill or test positive, you should self-isolate and avoid close contact with others.

Over the next 14 days, please stay home as much as possible, reduce your contact with others, follow good hand hygiene practices and self-monitor for the symptoms of COVID-19, which can be found here. We must continue to take personal responsibility for our own health and to keep our Spartan community safe.

I wish you every success your studies and hope fall break provides what I imagine is a much needed period of rest and recuperation.

Go Green!
