COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be a safe and effective way to prevent serious illness and hospitalizations during the pandemic. All students, faculty and staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and boosted with an FDA-approved or -authorized or WHO-approved vaccine. COVID-19 boosters are required for all MSU faculty, students and staff. It is important to understand the difference between a booster and an additional dose:
COVID-19 vaccine boosters are available to the general population and recommended for everyone ages 12 and older. A second booster dose also is available for those age 50 and older; though recommended by the CDC, it is not required to fulfill MSU's vaccine/booster mandate.
For those who need boosters or an additional dose:
Anyone with questions about the vaccine or booster should contact their primary care doctor. Michigan residents also can call the Michigan COVID-19 Hotline at (888) 535-6136, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
